Carbide Drills

Carbide drills are made from tungsten carbide, a material significantly harder and more wear-resistant than high-speed steel (HSS) or cobalt drills. This extreme hardness allows carbide drills to maintain sharp cutting edges for extended periods, making them ideal for high-precision and high-production applications.

Carbide drills excel in drilling tough materials such as hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, composites, and abrasive materials like fiberglass. They offer exceptional heat resistance, allowing for higher cutting speeds and improved efficiency in demanding machining environments.

Due to their brittleness, carbide drills are best used in rigid setups with proper machine stability to prevent chipping or breakage. While they have a higher upfront cost than HSS or HSS-E drills, their longevity and performance make them a cost-effective choice for industries requiring precision and durability, such as aerospace, automotive, and medical manufacturing.
